The role

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Legal Assistant to support our busy and high‑performing Projects, Construction & Infrastructure team. This is a key support role that blends core legal assistant responsibilities with executive‑style practice support and paralegal‑level work.

Working closely with Partners and senior lawyers, you will play a central role in the smooth and efficient operation of the practice. The role will suit someone who enjoys being embedded in a legal team, takes ownership of workflows, and is comfortable operating across administrative, coordination and substantive support tasks.

The team is hardworking and high performing, while also being collegiate and supportive, with a genuine focus on collaboration and team connection.

This role offers meaningful variety and scope to apply your organisational, technical and legal knowledge, including opportunities to assist with work that is paralegal in nature.

Key responsibilities

With no two days the same, your responsibilities will include:

Core Legal Assistant & Practice Support

  • Matter management including file opening and closing procedures and conflict searches
  • Billing, reporting and assisting with financial processes
  • Document management, correspondence and general administrative support
  • Assisting with notarisation of documents

Executive‑style Support

  • Managing competing priorities and workflows to support fee earners
  • Diary management and support for the Deputy Managing Partner
  • Coordinating documentation, deadlines and deliverables across matters
  • Providing proactive administrative support to enable the practice to operate efficiently

Paralegal‑style Support

  • Preparing, formatting and managing complex legal documents
  • Assisting lawyers with transactional and matter-based tasks as required
  • Supporting the team with substantive legal assistance within scope

About you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • At least 5 years experience as an Legal Assistant within a commercial law firm environment, ideally supporting a commercial, projects or construction practice group
  • Appetite or experience in providing executive assistant or paralegal support
  • The capability and confidence to support lawyers in a fast‑paced and busy practice
  • Advanced document preparation and formatting skills
  • Capability to use AI software to support practice efficiency and automation
  • A willingness to work in a continuous learning environment, demonstrating a natural curiosity
  • Billing and matter management experience
  • Experience with legal systems (iManage and Expert desirable), with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience communicating with clients directly on a daily basis
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team and autonomously
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to excellent client (internal and external) service
