Piper Alderman is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Tax Lawyer/Associate with 2–4 years' post-qualification experience to join our Melbourne office.

This newly created position offers the opportunity to work directly with a highly regarded tax partner, recognised for her technical expertise, commercial insight and ability to deliver practical, solution oriented advice aligned with her clients’ objectives.

You’ll be exposed to a broad mix of Federal and State tax matters, advising on structuring, transactions, disputes and regulatory issues across a range of industries. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is ready to step into a client-facing role, contribute to complex matters and develop under expert mentorship in a supportive and collaborative environment.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2–4 years’ PQE in tax law (private practice or in-house).
  • Exposure to both Federal and State tax issues (income tax, CGT, GST, stamp duty, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills.
  • A proactive mindset and commitment to delivering commercial, client-focused advice.
  • Client focused approach with strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • A positive, proactive mindset and eagerness to continue learning
