A premier commercial law firm, Piper Alderman has offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.  We work with clients across Australia and internationally to achieve optimum legal and commercial solutions.

Our legal expertise has been built on nearly two centuries of industry experience. Piper Alderman has been a leading advisor to commercial Australian interests for more than 175 years and we continue to advance in knowledge, skills and commitment.

Piper Alderman is well reputed for its expertise and experience advising on licensing and compliance in the fintech, regtech and digital currency spaces so this is a fabulous opportunity to come and join some of the best as you develop your skills as a legal practitioner in the space.

The role

Working with two nationally recognised industry experts, Shannon Adams and Joshua Annese, you will be given the opportunity to work in one of the fastest growing practice areas globally. The practice specialises in providing the best legal advice to banks, credit unions, building societies and other financial services and credit providers nationally.

This opportunity will see you refining your existing commercial and regulatory skills within a busy team advising financial institutions in relation to governance, mergers and related implementation, regulatory reform projects and issues, product development and distribution, payments systems, various types of commercial arrangements, breach reporting and remediation and customer issues and disputes.  You will have the opportunity to develop a genuine niche in the in-demand financial services regulatory space including in relation to APRA prudential regulation, the regulation of deposit and payment products, consumer credit, real and personal property security, payment systems participation, scams, privacy, the consumer data right, AML/CTF and financial product advertising and marketing.  You will be welcome to show your techy side in this team with a focus on the electronic delivery of financial services and the legal issues associated with using new and emerging technologies.

This role will see you supervised by two of the best in the industry, but you will equally be afforded a high degree of autonomy and ownership.

To succeed in this role

You will ideally have 2+ years financial services regulatory experience or general commercial/banking and finance experience with a willingness to now develop your expertise in financial services regulation.  Your commitment to client service will see you rewarded with the opportunity to work on some of the best matters in the country.
