We are looking for an experienced, professional and enthusiastic Legal Assistant to support our busy and successful Construction practice group within our Melbourne CBD office. 

In this role you will provide all aspects of Legal Administrative support, including client liaison, document and file management, general filing, time entry and monthly billing, assistance with court documents preparation and drafting and amending general correspondence and legal documents – including contracts.

You will need to demonstrate a flexible ‘can do’ approach and exhibit a high level of planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working toward tight deadlines. Previous experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant, particularly in a construction front/back-end role, as is an understanding of court system processes and online court filing systems.

With no two days the same, the tasks you will be responsible for are:

  • General administrative duties such as document management, diary/inbox management and managing enquiries
  • Opening and closing matters, conducting conflict searches, filing and archiving
  • Attending to time entries, processing third party invoices, team expenses
  • Word processing including drafting documents as required
  • Preparation of documents including letters, contracts and general correspondence
  • Assistance with court document preparation and drafting
  • Managing the team’s monthly billing

About you

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, ideally with exposure to litigation and court filing processes
  • Confidence to ‘manage-up’ to ensure workflows are prioritised
  • A customer service approach, with the ability to build relationships
  • Strong initiative, with the ability to work autonomously to achieve tasks
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to pick up new systems quickly
