Thank you
The initial weeks of training allowed me to feel prepared and excited about the role. During my time as a Clerk, I have felt supported when learning new tasks.
I have been exposed to tasks, such as researching and drafting documents that are interesting and intellectually challenging. I receive continuous and in-depth feedback which has allowed me to develop my practical legal skills alongside my university studies.
I started my career at Piper Alderman as a graduate and after a year I settled in the corporate team where I continue to practice. I have been fortunate enough to work with a number of partners who have varying specialties, clients and focus areas and whilst challenging at times, the diverse range of work has enabled me to develop a broad skillset in a short period of time. The team is incredibly supportive of both my professional and personal development, and they have provided me with a myriad of opportunities which have been instrumental in my development as a legal professional.
Working at Piper Alderman allows me to work with some of the most respected, skilled, and sought-after practitioners in the country on the most interesting work available. Being given the opportunity to work with interesting clients with complex issues, which they entrust us to advise them on, means no two days are the same. In addition, Piper Alderman’s national presence means that I can leverage the expertise of my interstate colleagues, who are always collegiate and willing to assist. While I feel supported, I have also, from an early stage, had a high level of autonomy and regularly correspond directly with clients.
My favourite thing about being a clerk at Piper Alderman is definitely the people! Everyone is always really friendly and happy to lend a helping hand. The firm really wants you to succeed and provides the perfect environment to facilitate your growth into a young legal professional.
I started at Piper Alderman as a Law Clerk in the penultimate year of my degree in 2017. From the very beginning, I have been involved in rewarding and interesting matters while working alongside colleagues and supervisors who are highly experienced and supportive. Piper Alderman has given me opportunities to challenge myself and provided me with the tools to ensure my long-term development as a lawyer. I feel very fortunate to have had this experience.
I love working at Piper Alderman because of the team environment I get to work in. Also, the training and career progression opportunities that are offered to you, should you want to try a different area within the firm, are excellent.
There are also opportunities to meet other colleagues, within other teams and learn about what other people are working on, with our regular Piper Alderman Coffee Connect sessions.
From day one, I was welcomed into a dynamic environment where forging meaningful relationships across the firm was encouraged. It is incredibly fulfilling to be part of an organisation that not only values personal development but actively supports it by providing opportunities to grow.
Piper Alderman has consistently offered me opportunities to learn and grow, creating an environment that encourages personal and professional development. The support and encouragement of my team and the wider firm has been exceptional. This has made the beginning of my HR career meaningful and rewarding.
Piper Alderman has given me many career progression opportunities – I started as an admin and after 4 years with the firm, I was promoted to the role of Office Services Supervisor for the Melbourne office which has been a very rewarding challenge.
I can say without a doubt that the firm’s greatest asset is the amazing people who work here. I also value the opportunities provided to help shape the culture of the firm. I am a member of both the RAP Committee and the Melbourne Social Committee, which I find very fulfilling.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my progression and journey at Piper Alderman and have worked with many great leaders along the way. I was afforded the opportunity to progress into the Accounts Team Leader role where I have developed my skills leading a team that supports our growing and fast paced firm.
The opportunities to expand my skillsets have been plentiful, and the supportive environment has fostered my professional growth. The standout aspect is the continual affirmation of my worth within the team. This recognition has fostered a sense of belonging and certainty for me at Piper Alderman.
