The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Manager to join our specialised IT team. You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, administration, operation, enhancement, and maintenance of the firm's Information Technology environment. You'll be responsible for leading and managing the infrastructure team, as well as working cross-functionally with other teams in the IT group and other teams in the firm to deliver reliable, robust, and high-quality information technology services.

About You 

  • Five to ten years in a System Engineer/Network Engineer role or in an Infrastructure Management role.
  • Relevant industry qualifications such as Microsoft and Cisco are preferable.
  • Experience with Exchange, SQL server, active directory, windows servers, Cloud Technologies, backup solutions, infrastructure and systems monitoring, cyber security, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience managing and mentoring information technology professionals.
  • Experience in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience leading and delivering organisation-wide information technology projects.
  • Exposure to legal technology environments.
  • Infrastructure Management experience in (but not limited to) Virtual Machines, Security (including PKI, Certificates, IIS, and Firewalls), WAN infrastructure and design, SAN Storage, Switches, General System Security, and Wi-Fi.
  • Microsoft technology Stack including Storage Spaces, Windows Server, Hyper-V, and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite including messaging and communication, security and compliance, enterprise mobility,
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory (including DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Sites & Services).

  • Ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships, including with those team members and colleagues who are interstate.
  • Proven ability to mentor and enhance the professional skills of colleagues, fostering a learning environment that encourages growth and the sharing of knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, to a wide range of people including lawyers, partners, suppliers, and clients. Fluency in both IT Jargon and plain English.
  • Experienced in managing upward and navigating challenging stakeholder relationships, with a strong capability to make decisive decisions that align with strategic goals and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to lead, encourage, and develop the team or project group.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Accustomed to working in a corporate environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

The following is a list of roles and responsibilities for the Infrastructure Manager. These responsibilities encompass system and network management, security compliance, project coordination, and strategic planning, all critical to maintaining the operational integrity and advancement of the firm's IT infrastructure.

System and Network Management:

  • System Monitoring: Monitor systems and networks, making necessary adjustments, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Hardware Management: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade networking equipment, servers, and other hardware.
  • Network Configuration: Configure networks to optimize performance and resolve faults.
  • Troubleshooting: Deliver high-level troubleshooting and resolution for significant escalated infrastructure faults.

Security and Compliance:

  • System Security: Ensure that systems are securely configured, monitored, and maintained.
  • Cybersecurity Protocols: Monitor and manage robust cybersecurity controls including threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, and incident response strategies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

System and Network Management:

  • Data Administration: Take responsibility for the administration of network, firewalls, servers, and ancillary equipment.
  • Housekeeping Procedures: Actively undertake system backups, user account setup, file access monitoring, and software performance monitoring.
  • Disaster Recovery Testing: Test disaster recovery procedures and implement necessary improvements.

Recovery Actions: Undertake recovery actions in the event of system failures.

Leadership and Development:

  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of engineers and administrators, effectively managing workloads and support tickets.
  • Training and Onboarding: Train and onboard staff in managing and maintaining IT infrastructure.
  • Strategic Advisory: Advise and make decisions with the IT Director on hardware renewals, replacements, upgrades, and implementations.

Budget Management:

  • Budget Assistance: Assist in developing IT budgets, monitor, and manage expenditures to align with organizational goals and financial constraints.

Budget Management:

  • Vendor Liaison: Liaise with contractors and vendors as necessary.
  • Reporting and Communication: Advise and report on system issues, concerns, outages, and forecasts to the IT Director for proactive mitigation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Flexible Support: Support the IT department by working on tasks as directed by the IT Director or their delegate.
  • Travel and Miscellaneous: Handle interstate travel and perform other duties as required.

Training:

  • Specific skills and knowledge training to meet the objectives of the position.
  • Undertake further training and development to ensure that skills and knowledge are maintained and appropriate to satisfy future operational demands and requirements.

Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines:

  • To work in accordance with the firm's policies, procedures and guidelines.

Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations Responsibilities:

  • Compliance with workplace procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control. work in accordance with the firm's policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, property damage and mishaps at the workplace.
  • Correct utilisation of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety.
