Are you an ambitious junior lawyer with a passion for health professional discipline work, administrative law, insurance defence, personal injuries and general insurance defence, media law, defamation and general civil litigation? The successful candidates will be provided the direct opportunity to be mentored by an experienced Partner and a Senior Associate whilst working on complex litigation, disputes and professional conduct disciplinary proceedings.

About the role

Reporting into an industry leading Partner and Senior Associate, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Researching technical information for current matters
  • Gathering and analysing case facts while identifying legal issues and risks
  • Drafting emails, correspondence, opinions, advice and legal documentation for use in court and tribunal proceedings.
  • Providing general legal assistance to fee earners in the group as required
  • Preparing counsel briefings and documents for court hearings
  • Attending in Courts and Tribunals

 

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • 2-4 years post admission legal experience
  • Professional conduct and discipline and personal injury defence experience
  • General litigation experience is advantageous
  • An excellent academic record coupled with strong technical legal skills
  • A commitment to excellence and delivery of high quality outcomes to our clients
  • Ability to effectively manage your own time, managing competing tasks and at time working to tight deadlines
  • Strong drafting skills with specific ability to draft court documents and affidavits
  • A team player mentality, with a supportive and collaborative working style
  • A self-motivated and “can-do” attitude with an eagerness to learn and grow your career with Piper Alderman
